Three Tips To Kickstart Your Career As A Freelancer

Working at home sounds like a dream come true, but it's not always a straightforward process. Ask me! I’ve been working online since the crisis happened, and I’ve been through every Scam and legit website that you can imagine.

So today, I’m giving you the blog post that I wish I read before I started my journey as a Freelancer.
The way people make a living is rapidly changing. Every year, more and more people are embracing online jobs in some capacity. Some escaping the 9-5 hell cycle and others have been caught up in the economic calamity following the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, looking for online work usually requires sifting through site after site. With job opportunities becoming increasingly competitive and new websites claiming to have the best offers, identifying legit online jobs is becoming difficult.
I’m here to give you an easy 3 step guide to start your freelancing career, whether you need a stable income or looking for a side hustle.

1- Think of what you have to offer.

What do you have to offer that others would be interested in? From Writing & Editing, Graphic Design, translation and even customer support. Think of the skills you possess to apply for jobs.

2- Find a legit Freelancing Website to start offering your services.

It’s important to do your research and check reviews. It’s a very easy process. However, most of us are too lazy to actually look anything up. No need to worry, I got you covered.
Here is a short list of the best websites that I used and still use to make a living as a full time freelancer.

Freelancer is one of the best freelance websites for finding work, regardless of the type of freelancer you are. If you search for freelance sites, the first site you are likely to come across is Freelancer.com. From small businesses to huge corporations, many different types of companies are looking to hire every day. Based on my own experience, it’s the easiest site that you could use to land your first gig.

Upwork provides resources to help you get started as a freelancer. You could also work for many well-known clients like Microsoft, Airbnb, Dropbox, etc.
Anyone seeking flexibility in the workplace should certainly check out this freelance website.

Guru.com makes it easy for Freelancers to find gigs. You have the option to publish the services you can provide, and also bid on projects. I’d recommend trying Guru, especially if you’re a beginner.

Fiverr is one of the most popular free services. No only is it easy to use and publish gigs, but it also offers free learning courses to develop your skills and teach you how to pitch to clients.

3- Be patient.

Now that you’ve started multiple freelancing accounts, it’s important to understand that this could be a slow process. You have to find or create gigs that you could bid on, and sometimes it can take a little time for a beginner to understand how each Freelancing website works. Don’t give up! Give yourself time to earn the experience that freelance stars have, always work on yourself and your skills to improve and I promise you all your efforts will pay off.
